Professional Pediatric 12 Hour Care for Children First Aid Course
In the UK, professional child care providers such
as nannies, nursery carers and child-minders must
complete a suitable pediatric first aid course at regular intervals. The Emergency
First Response 12 Hour Care for Children programme
meets the standards and regulatory requirements necessary for such a first aid course.
Although not a requirement globally, we recommend that this course is seriously
considered by anyone either in, or considering working in a
child care profession.
The course covers the same areas as the Care for Children course, but includes a more
in-depth focus on the treatment and assessment
of specific secondary care injuries such as burns
and scalds, cuts, scrapes and eye injuries. It
also covers understanding, treatment and assessment of illnesses such as Meningitis, Febrile Convulsions and Sickle Cell Disorder.
I believe the seminar definitely benefited me on a personal
and professional level. Being the mother of 3 children and also working on a daily
basis with children it definitely gave me a more confident feel in dealing with
emergencies.
